The aim of liposuction is not to reduce the patient `s weight but to reshape the figure. It can be performed as one procedure or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures. The regions most commonly requiring liposuction are the abdomen, buttocks, lateral and medial regions of the thighs. Liposuction can be usefully applied together with face –lifting, breast reduction and abdominoplasty. The method employed in liposuction is performed either by vibration or by ultrasonic instruments which are both virtually trauma free.
